This SMILE resource contains two packs of games, investigations, worksheets and practical activities supporting the teaching and learning of decimals, from reading decimals from a scale to multiplying two decimal numbers without a calculator.

Decimals pack one contains fifteen work cards with activities involving reading decimals from a scale, identifying decimals presented in different forms, adding decimals to one decimal place, forming sequences with decimals, a decimal addition search and multiplying and dividing decimals by ten.

Decimals pack two  contains eight work cards with slightly more challenging activities requiring students to match fractions to their decimal equivalent, subtract decimals, multiply by decimals and convert fractions to decimals.

SMILE (Secondary Mathematics Individualised Learning Experiment) was initially developed as a series of practical activities for secondary school students by practising teachers in the 1970s. It became a complete individualised scheme based around a network of activity cards and assessments.

Related resources include answers  to all of the cards and test books and answers .
